This multimedia installation takes inspiration from and adapts family members' oral narratives, written records, and drawn and photographic memories, shaping collective memory as a monument to the artist's grandparents' now-demolished home.
At its center sits a circular basin filled with water, above which hangs a pull cord modeled after the pull-chain toilet from the old house. Surrounding the basin are boxes carrying the artist's mother's old family photos taken in the house. The projected video shows the actual demolition of the old house. The work associates the act of flushing with the erasure of physical sites and personal memories within the family history.
